I went to AnimeOD over the weekend and it was the greatest time of my life. I found out about this convention in Sept. 2004 so I've been waiting for it for a long time. I signed up for it once I knew Rob Paulsen was going to be there. He is my favorite voice actor of all time.

On Saturday March 5th, I attended the American voice actors panal featuring Rob, Tara Strong, and Debi Derryberry. The panal was amazing. They answered questions, did their cartoon voices, and took requests. I even got to ask Rob a question. Then Rob treated the fans with a flawless rendition of the "Nations of the World". Many fan questions and requests went to Tara Strong since their were a lot of gamers and Teen Titan fans in the audience. But Rob did a great job doing Yakko, Carl Wheezer, Raphael, and Pinky was a crowd pleaser. Afterwards, I got to meet him when he was walking in the lobby and I shook his hand.

On Sunday March 6th, the guests held an autograph session and I got to get autographs from Rob Paulsen, Debi Derryberry, and Alex Borstein. Alex was there for the Family Guy panal. I took pictures with all the American voice actors as well. They were all class acts and Rob autographed a few of my Animaniacs and Ninja Turtles items.

This was the greatest weekend ever and I would love to know if any other American voice actors will be in conventions in the future.

Sounds like a great time! Rob always amazes me whenever he spouts out all the nations flawlessly like that. I'm curious as to what you asked him?

We're actually in the process of putting together a new "Events" feature which will list any upcoming events and the voice actors that are scheduled to appear. That should help a bit, I hope! The backend is done... I just need to finish the UI for it. Look for it soon!

Well I told him that I was a fan of his older work since I was born in the late 80s and grew up watching him in cartoons like Darkwing Duck, Gummi Bears, Animaniacs and many others. So I told him its been so long since I've seen any of those and wondered if older fans like me would ever be able to see those cartoons again since they're no longer on the air. It's a big concern of mine. So Rob thanked me for appreciating his work, did some Steelbeak and Pinky for us, and said he supports the putting of older cartoons on DVD since a lot of people have asked for Animaniacs on DVD. So maybe he'll put in a good word for the Disney Afternoon cartoons and all the great cartoons that are no longer on the air to be put on DVD. All I wanted to do was tell him I was a big fan of the older stuff and I accomplished that.

Ah, how great! Here's hoping Disney gets smart and puts all of those shows onto DVD. They've gotten Gargoyles already, so that's a start. Maybe there's still hope. Wink

I'm surprised WB hasn't put Animaniacs onto DVD yet... I'd think there'd be a huge market for it.

Hi Kristy,

Sigh, actually, I'm not surprised WB hasn't put either Tiny Toons or Animaniacs out on DVD yet --;! It took them forever to put out Batman: The Animated Series. Their DVD marketing department isn't too bright Razz! The same goes for Disney's DVD department. I would love to see all the old Disney Afternoon cartoons released on complete seasonal DVD sets.

I went to Anime Detour this past weekend. I had a blast and met a few VAs! I couldn't participate in any of the VA panels though due to timing. My full 'report' is in my journal, but it mainly deals with all the moola I spent --;!
