The long-lost 1962 Jay Ward series "Fractured Flickers" has recently been released on DVD. The inimitable Hans Conried was the on-camera host, and it's great to be able to enjoy his comically disdainful delivery. In addition, the celebrity guests of the time included several folks who did voice-over at some point in their careers, including Sebastian Cabot, Pat Carroll, Edward Everett Horton, Paul Lynde, and Bob Newhart.

Most interestingly, howeverv, the show afforded a rare chance to see Bill Scott on-camera. My friend Harry McCracken has a nice write-up on the series, with screengrabs of Hans, Bill, and guests, here.

Oh my gosh... those are wonderful shots! Their expressions (especially Conried's) are just priceless.

I'm just going to have to break down and buy the DVD set, aren't I... Shocked

Well, it's great to see that the classics are still regarded so highly...
I didn't know anybody cared! I have the actual bumper sticker from the show at my Dad's house in my old room! Wow.

Anyway, if you can't wait until your copy arrives via snail mail, you might be able to rent these gems at Eddie Brandt's Saturday Morning Matinee in Van Nuys (5006 Vineland Ave). If you haven't heard of them, you gotta check it out. It's a living vault of Hollywood History!

I've worked with June (and Lucille Bliss) a few times doing Smurfs and other voices with her at ASIFA conventions, and she's always a delight.

Whoa... that's quite a piece of nostalgia.

If only I lived closer to California... I'd be in heaven! Who knows... maybe I'll wind up there some day.
