EDIT: Recruitment close until further notice!

Hello everyone,

I am Maegfaer, one of the developers of the Middle Earth Roleplaying Project (MERP), a total conversion of 'The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion' with the aim of re-creating the world as described in J.R.R. Tolkien's 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy. Our team currently has over 30 active(!) developers, and our game world is seven times bigger than the original game!

We have reached the stage where we require voice acting for many characters (ranging from young adults to old people, both genders, with many different accents depending on where they live and what they do, we have a world to fill!) in the game, and soon also for famous characters like Frodo, Gandalf, Aragorn (similar how they were in the movies) etc. Since we aim to create a high quality game, we also value high quality voice acting, so we could use your help!

Are you an experienced voice actor and in the possession of a good microphone, and would you like to provide the voices for one or more characters in one of the biggest and most anticipated non-profit gaming productions ever seen? Then just reply to this message with some basic information about yourself along with a voice sample, or apply directly at our forums, and we will contact you as soon as possible!

We hope to hear from you soon.

The MERP Team

We have so much dialogue, but I'll post some example dialogue for your samples. These are random conversations between characters who live in Bree, a village with common folk, many of them farmers. Gender doesn't matter, we need both, as many different types of characters must be able to have these conversations. Accents do not really matter as long as they are not very strong. Deadline for these is February the 1st, though this project will take several more years to complete during which we will constantly need more voice acting:

"Been a lot of them Rangers wanderin' around Bree Land lately. Hope they don't stay too long; they're strange folk they are and naught good will come of their company."

"Seen old Stider lurking about recently near the Pony; wonder what he's up to. A strange one he is, never says much save to tell some old tale 'round the fire; just sits quietly by and watches things; makes me uneasy he does."

"Been a lot of folks coming up from the south these days. They've made quite a stir they have, what with the stories they tell. Seems things are gettin' pretty rough down the Green Way. Well, I hope these southerners just move on through; 'ill news is an ill guest" they say and their pressence in Bree doesn't sit well with me; not one bit."

"Knew a friend once who went up to Dead Man's Dike. Told me stories of that place as would freeze your veins. And he said them Rangers was there too, fightin or huntin or some such thing."

"I don't like these southerners that're comin' up the Green Way. That one that's taken to stayin' with Bill Ferny has the most disturbin' air about him; naught but trouble can be had with his lot around."

"I know he isn't the most warm of fellows, but that old Strider that visits the Pony ain't all that bad once you get to talkin' with him. Tells some fine stories he does, like the one about that fellow Beren who took the jewel from that wicked kings crown so as he could marry his love, the daughter of an Elven king? That's one of my favorites he tells!"

"Never been to Bree you say? Well, then the one place you need to go is the Prancing Pony. Butterbur ain't the sharpest of fellows, but he's got some fine ale and nice rooms if you need a place to lay your head and rest your feet."

"Bree has been here for as long as anyone can recon. Longer even than the Kingdom that had its seat up north 'round Dead Man's Dike. Ain't many loremasters or scholars in these lands but there is old Aldor who lives just outside of Bree. His family's been tellin' tales of the old days for as long as there's been old days to tell about."

Since we are a non-profit project, we currently don't have someone in the team with professional experience concerning voice acting. If you are willing and have enough spare time and are enthusiastic about this project, you might get the lead in handling everything concerning voice actors in MERP. Just contact us at our forums if you are interested.
