We are so thrilled to have voice actress Kat Cressida join us for a second time in another edition of #BeyondTheBooth! She has worked in nearly every facet of the voiceover industry, including animation, video games, theme park attractions, voice matching, ADR, promos, live hosting, looping, and more.
In this interview, Kat talks about the magic of Disney, her favorite Disneyland attractions, and how it influenced her growing up. Learn how she became the first (and only) female announcer for the NFL Draft and the challenges in live announcing, and her current gig on ESPN's Pardon the Interruption. We learn how voiceover is different than any other form of acting, and how voice actors have to instill emotion in characters with little to no context, especially in the video game world. She explains what it means to be a "scratch" voice in trailers, and the different levels of urgency involved. And we talk more about voice matching this time around, with her first Disney animated feature role matching the voice of Glenn Close's character, Kala, in the film Tarzan, and how she had to determine how to interpret "humanistic gorilla" sounds in that role.
