Several sources are reporting the passing of voice actor Eddie Carroll who died this morning at the age of 76. Carroll had been the official voice of Jiminy Cricket, the classic Disney character, since 1973, following the death of Cliff Edwards. Video of Carroll discussing his work as Jiminy can be seen on the D23 website.

Carroll had a long history in the entertainment industry. He co-wrote scripts with Jamie Farr for Hanna-Barbera and other cartoon studios in the 1970s and his long list of on-screen film and television credits included roles on Gomer Pyle, Mary Tyler Moore, and a weekly NBC series with Don Knotts. He was also well-known for his Jack Benny impersonation, an act which he took on the road in a live show he wrote himself called Laughter in Bloom.

A more thorough biography is available at Carroll's official website.

We at Voice Chasers extend our sincerest condolences to Eddie Carroll's family during this time.
