Greetings All!

I have only been on the boards for a short while, making a few geeky references to Ted Cassidy and other great voices. I am Rod "Darth Vox" Barnes and I've been doing voiceovers for my company and a few up-and-coming shows for 10 years. I've been a great fan of the Hanna-Barbera, Warner Brothers and Anime voices-but of course I humbly bow before the might of The Great Don La Fontaine...

Which brings me to what appears to be the harbinger of sad news...

It was just reported this morning (I'm in NY) around 8am that The great King of the Voiceovers, Don La Fontaine has died of complications of a collapsed lung at the still young age of 68.

I am personally saddended by this, partly because of this man's great career and because this is the guy- outside of Mel Blanc and Ted Cassidy that got me really into Voiceovers. And I only recently discovered that I could do a dead-on impersonation (not unlike "Lesbian-looking comedian" Pablo Francisco(his words-not mine) and various other VO artists )

I appear to be the first to make this announcement and I apologize if I jumped the gun or stepped on any toes-but I'm just as shocked and saddened by this and felt duty bound to report...

I guess I'll talk about myself after a decent period of mourning...

Hi Rod,

It's great to have you here!

I learned of this news this morning as well... shocked and saddened. Last I heard, things were improving, but sadly, things seem to have taken a turn for the worst.

He will be missed, indeed. From the stories I've been reading throughout the day today, he was not only a great talent, but a great man.
